POF-USA_olde-school-direct-impingement-di-308_FPatriot Ordnance Factory (POF-USA) is well known for its innovation of the AR platform, and the company is continuing this effort with the release of its new Olde School rifle chambered in .308 Win./7.62x51mm NATO.

While POF-USA is recognized for its gas-piston rifles, the Olde School rifle is designed with a traditional direct-impingement gas system. What makes this system different from those used in other ARs is that it utilizes a gas tube manufactured entirely from Inconel, which increases reliability by improving the amount of heat that the gas system can handle.

As with many previous POF-USA rifles, the Olde School uses the company’s proven E2 extraction technology, which redirects a small amount of gas back along the neck of a spent cartridge to aid with extraction. For added versatility and dexterity, the Olde School also incorporates completely ambidextrous controls and sports an 11.5-inch M-Lok compatible M-Rail forend for mounting attachments.

The Olde School rifle is available with either a 14.5- or 16.5-inch barrel for a total length (collapsed) of 34 or 36 inches. The rifle is lightweight, weighing just 8 pounds with the 14.5-inch barrel and 8.2 pounds with the 16.5-inch barrel.

The new POF-USA Olde School rifle is available for $2,599 and comes with either a black anodized or NP3 finish.
